I’m cheezhead for halloween

Wednesday, October 31st, 2007

Update 11/1/2007:
When this post was originally published, the blog’s design matched that of cheezhead. Here is a screenshot.

When I got in to work this morning and found that our inside sales group in nyc had arranged the greatest Halloween of all time I was in a hurry to get on board.

While there’s no way I can compete with a group which orchestrated themed costumes by team, but I figured I could do something. So I stole Cheezhead’s source code and today…I am cheezhead.

It definitely doesn’t compete with the ghostbusters, the six pack and german beer girl, the eighties fitness group, or (my favorite) the boy band, ‘local n’ available,’ but at least I have a costume…complete with website and myspace profile…but its something.

Today I will take a mid-day nap. I will optimize web sites like a champ. I will source the net for dirt on monster and jason goldberg and I will proudly link to JobCentral.

  • It was awesome.
  • At least two Yahoo! HotJobs employees have been in episodes of The Sopranos. Yahoo! HotJobs is a fun place to work with cool people. If you’re looking for a great sales job in new york or a great sales job in san francisco you should get in touch with me because Yahoo! HotJobs is hiring. You sort of have to do that when you gain +30% job seeker search market share year over year, partner with 260+ newspapers and release cutting edge technologies in the space. ;)
  • The guy who ‘Sil’ clip’d in the beginning was my high school gym teacher and basketball coach, Artie Pasquale. We called him, ‘Pasqual-ee.’

Monster VP, Sue Hayden Increases Sales Quotas 70-100%? Say What?!

Friday, February 16th, 2007

There’s a rumor circulating that Monster VP, Sue Hayden has announced a 70-100% increase in sales quotas this year and as a result, sales reps are fleeing.

This sounds extreme and may be a rumor but if you’re one of these sales reps or managers any big increase right now must a pretty tough pill to swallow.

Think about it. Monster’s traffic has decreased 5% year over year, Jan/06 to Jan/07 (comscore). So, Monster reps have less supply.

Monster’s product offering is pretty limited when compared to what’s out there and according to Cheezhead, they’ve cut back even further on some services while increasing costs.

The market is packed with new companies and exciting products (Jobster, Indeed, Simply|Hired, LinkedIn, Search Marketing, Behavioral Targeting, SEO, etc). So, Monster reps have more competition.

If this is true and Monster sales reps and managers are being tasked with selling twice with so much less support, then we should rally behind those departing sales reps and managers like we did with the Jobster layoffs. My network is open.

My Invitation

Departing Monster sales reps and managers can interview here at the #44 best company to work for in the US.

If you are a departing rep or manager and want to sell more than listings and resume search you should give me a call, email me, or connect with me on LinkedIn

At Yahoo! HotJobs we’re selling search marketing, display advertising throughout the entire Yahoo! Network on properties such as Y! Finance, Y! Mail, Y! Music etc. and listings and resume search where applicable.

DISCLAIMER: You won’t see a Yahoo! buss at SHRM.

Has anyone heard about this? Can anyone confirm that it’s true?

True Story..

Thursday, February 1st, 2007

I was just part of a wave that spanned an entire sales floor and over 100 yards. There’s no question that Yahoo! HotJobs is a fun place to work. Boo-Boo & Maddog started the wave. Don’t let the names fool you. Hacksaw is 6′5" teddy bear and Maddog is a well educated sales manager with his Masters Degree and 4 managers and 50 reps reporting to him.

If you think you’ve got what it takes to win in a competitive sales environment then you’ve got the #44 best company to work for in the US, an executive sales management team that put a whoopin on Big Blue in the 90’s and Maddog waiting to talk to you.

We’ve got Sales Jobs in New York and Sales Jobs in San Francisco open. Don’t miss the next President’s Club trip.

Give me a call if you have any questions.

Sales Jobs, New York

Thursday, October 19th, 2006

Post appended on 03/01/2007
More up to date information on New York Sales Jobs at Yahoo! is available here.

Working in Sales for a rapidly growing company is one thing. Working in Sales for a rapidly growing company which already has a significant share of the market, one that is releasing new products virtually every quarter, and one that is years ahead of its competitors in regards to innovation is another.

When you add to all of that the fact that the Yahoo! HotJobs Sales Team is run by the same sales management team that beat up IBM throughout the 90’s, Yahoo! HotJobs looks like a pretty good place to invest your Sales skills…oh yeah, did I mention that we just got back from our 2nd President’s Club trip this year? (Ritz-Carlton, Miami South Beach).

Digg!

You so want to work here…

An ere.net article, ‘Recruiting on YouTube‘ points to a Yahoo! HotJobs video on YouTube. I think this video is hysterical. This video came out of a sales training event that pitted teams against each other; each competing for prizes. Teams were awarded not only for product and industry knowledge(as you would expect) but also creativity and entertainment. You so want to work here.

FYI – My team, ‘The Ragin’ Eighties" came in 7th place. There were only 10 teams participating. Nice.
