The Wall Street Journal reported this morning that Google is making some changes to its hiring process, which apparently is well known amongst candidates in the Silicon Valley for being painstaking and slow moving.

Per the article, Laszlo Bock (Head of HR at Google) has either made the following changes or is considering making these changes to Google’s hiring process. His goal is to adjust the hiring process so that it can contribute to Google’s growth rather the hold back Google’s expansion.

Google has implemented or is considering making these changes to its hiring process.

  • Reduce the number of interviews.
  • Require assessments be submitted within 1 week of interview.
  • Interviewers provide free form text feedback.
  • Reduce college GPA requirement if applicant displays a solid professional track record.
  • Short questionnaire to offer insight to candidates past, work style and personality.
    • ‘Have you every turned a profit at your own nontech side business?
    • ‘How strongly would you describe yourself as someone with an assertive personality?’
    • ‘At work would you prefer to manage others or do the work yourself?’

Want to help Google implement these changes or execute those already implemented?

Google is hiring HR professionals….

Bock is quoted in the article as saying, ‘Google is looking for HR professionals who can be promoted four, five and six times.’ Click here for Google’s NYC based HR positions on HotJobs.
